Capitalize more than one letter
We need to be able to capitalize a letter OTHER THAN the first letter in names and addresses. For example, patients with hyphenated last names or names like O’Brien, McMillan, etc. Same with road names.
This change was made with our 17.1 update.

There is a preference, Caps First Conversion, that capitalizes the first letter and makes everything else small.
This can be unchecked, which will force the user to capitalize what they want to capitalize in names, addresses, etc.
BUT, in the current version of the software, you can leave the Caps First Conversion checked and you can still manually capitalize other letters. Such as McDonald, or PO Box.

JUST FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THERE IS AN OPTION IN PREFERENCES THAT YOU CAN TURN "OFF" A CAPITALIZATION DEFAULT. WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE EITHER FOLLOWED UP ON ME ON THIS AFTER I PUT IN MY SUGGESTION OR TOLD ME THERE WAS THIS OPTION WHEN I CALLED AND COMPLAINED ABOUT IT!!! VERY FRUSTRATING!!

For instance, when we type P.O. Box, it automatically changes it to P.o. Box. If we want to hypen a name it make it Smith-tanner when it really should be Smith-Tanner. Also for a last name, McMillen, it changes it to Mcmillen.

If you turn off the Caps First conversion in Preferences you can type the names like this without an issue
-
Also another quick note on this... if you prefer to leave Caps First turned on... leave a space between the last lower case and next upper case.
(ie: Mc Donalds)

Shibloom-Thank you so much-it worked! Why couldn't the reps at Henry Schein tell me about that setting when I asked? We've been dealing with this problem for over a year now... You just made my day-thanks again.

We had the same problem and I believe in the preferences tab, under operation, and then general operations you can un-click perform CapFirst conversions and it will allow you to capitalize other letters.

We were able to do this PRIOR to the last major update....still waiting for this to be corrected

When you register a new patient with a Mc name or a hyphenated name they still don't capitalize any more.

When entering a name like MacDonald or O'Connor there is no space in the name. For instance with the auto capitalization the name MacDonald, the software doesn't allow you to make the D a capital without putting a space after the Mac. Please make this option available for proper spelling of last names.
