Put a 'Y' in box 24C of CMS-1500
We need the ability to put a 'Y' in box 24C of our medical claim forms to indicate to the insuance company that treatment was emergent. Our claims are being denied sometimes because we didn't get pre-authorization, which we didn't have time to do as treatment was emergent! "Claim Extras" has a drop-down box for "Service Authorization Exception", but choosing "3-Emergency Care" from that list doesn't actually put anything on the printed claim form...
selecting 3-Emergency Care in the Service Authorization Exception in Claims Extras window now places Y in box 24C

When you go to submit/resubmit and the box pops up, choose the Claim Extras button, then make the Service Authorization Exception drop-down blank. That's how they made it possible to put a Y now - you choose "3-Emergency Care" from that drop-down, so I'm assuming leaving that box blank will take it away.

I was told the same thing. I can't remember names of any patients who have been denied, and I'm not going to intentionally get a claim denied-then waste time sending a corrected one-just because OMSVision wants proof.

I asked for this a long time ago. I was told I needed a denial from the insurance company before you would do it. This makes no since. Why would I send in a claim that I know will be denied and then have to appeal it so you can have it. It is about time.

It also does not transfer to the claim from from OMS to Payer Path. It would be nice if this could be done.
