An issue that comes up with many offices when they first start using the software, or, as they bring new staff members on board to train....
They post an exam out. Fee $ 100.
The exam is covered, based on profile set up, at 100 %.
They have the patient pay in full due to frequency limitations.
They do not use the age/time table in the insurance profiles because they are situational / specialty. The frequency was reached at another office.
Therefore, there is a patient credit of $ 100 and an insurance balance of $ 100. The account has a zero balance as a result of equal debit / credit(s) on the account.
The claim still needs to be generated, for denial purposes.
But the claim needs to be closed.
Ideally, a preference that could be turned on / off, that would pop up a warning that the account balance is zero but a claim is open like this would be the ideal prompt. Then a prompt to ask if they want to transfer the insurance balance to the patient.
Otherwise...this doesn't get caught till they run the AR and even then it can get missed if credits are excluded.
